Google Photos just removed one of the most used features by users

In the past few hours, it seems that Google Photos has removed the possibility of using one of the features most appreciated by users.

New for Google Photos users.  Removed a feature introduced last November

Last November 2021, Google introduced a very useful feature used on a large scale by users for its Photos service. We are talking about the possibility of sending videos with Messages not in the form of MMS, but directly via Photos. A real upload of videos to the cloud with sending via link, but not only.

Because there was also the possibility to send images from Google Photos, again through the Messages app. Apparently, in the past few hours the Mountain View company has decided to turn around in this sense, removing the feature. It is not clear whether this was a temporary choice or a final decision.

At least for the moment, it is no longer possible to send photos and videos via Messages using the Google Photos service. The Big G itself has not yet officially expressed itself about it, and therefore it could be a bug rather than a final decision. The Big G support page continues to refer to the ability to send sharper videos, while no more talking about photos. It cannot be excluded that, after careful studies, it emerged that few users have made use of the option in the past weeks, thus opting for removal.

More information will certainly emerge in the coming weeks. In the past, the problem related to video compression that implements the MMS protocol had already been addressed by Google itself. It was decided to opt for the RCS protocol, designed to replace SMS and enrich them with multimedia features. All that remains is to wait and see how the Mountain View giant will decide to move in this direction.
